Staff Goodbye: Megan Simmons
My name is Megan Simmons, and I’ve been playing violin for 12 years. I am 22 years old, and I will be attending the University of Oregon in the fall for a master’s in Violin Performance with a pedagogy specialization. I took a small break after my senior recital and am now working on specific technique in Dont etudes and Paganini Caprice No. 13, and I plan on learning some more Bach. To motivate myself to practice during quarantine, I watch YouTube videos of violinists like Kerson Leong and David Oistrakh since they have amazing tone. I spend a lot of time with my family and cats, and like to lie out in the sun when it’s out. I would like to thank everyone who has been with me through my undergrad journey at Ball State, and I am really going to miss my friends, staff, and students! I am sad I could not say a proper goodbye this senior year, but if anyone wants to talk this summer, I am free and would love that!

BSU Junior
“My primary instrument is cello, and I’ve been playing for 8 years. I’m currently learning how to play and teach the violin. I’m 20 years old and a junior at Ball State. Practicing has definitely been a challenge during this quarantine. Having to practice during such uncertain times can feel unsettling, but playing my instrument has been a form of therapy. Being able to express myself through music has kept my mind clear and focused during quarantine. My other hobbies include drawing and painting.”
